Letters of Recommendation

The Bridge Scholarship applicants are required to provide two letters of recommendation. Here are few tips on how the letters of recommendation should be written :

• Specific Examples and Achievements:

A strong college letter of recommendation should include specific examples and anecdotes that highlight the applicant’s achievements, skills, and character. Instead of general statements, provide concrete instances where the applicant demonstrated leadership, critical thinking, or perseverance. This specificity adds credibility and depth to the recommendation.

• Address Personal Characteristics and Growth:

Beyond academic achievements, discuss the applicant’s personal characteristics and growth over time. Share insights into their work ethic, collaboration skills, and resilience. Admissions committees are often interested in understanding how applicants contribute to the learning environment and how they handle challenges.

• Comparison and Context:

Provide context by comparing the applicant to their peers or reflecting on their performance in the broader educational setting. This helps the scholarship committee understand the applicant’s standing relative to others and the context in which you’ve observed their abilities. Be honest in your assessment, highlighting what sets the applicant apart.
